Health Check Procedure

No rat will be allowed into the Exhibition area in a cage with wire or open sides. Modified sterelite bins should NOT have openings or wire in the sides. Rats in cat-carrier type cages, or wire cages, will be asked to leave the Exhibition area immediately and not return.

1. When you arrive at the show site, please leave your rats in your vehicle.

2. Signs will be posted directing all exhibitors to the Health Check Tent.

3. When you address yourself to the Health Check Clerk, you will be given a number and checked off their list.

4. When your number is called, please bring all your rats directly into the Health Check Tent, without interacting with any other exhibitor or their animals.

5. The Health Check Officials and the owner will be the only people allowed to handle each animal. Every animal present must be on the master list of pre-registered animals. Anyone who has an animal which is not on the master list will be asked to leave the Exhibition area and not return.

6. Once your animals pass Health Check, you will be given your Exhibition number stickers for each rat you are showing.

7. Take ALL your rats who have passed Health Check into the Exhibition area and put them on, or under, your assigned table. Please remember that no one besides owners, judges, and show officials may handle your rats for any reason. Do NOT walk around the exhibition area with your animals. If you must handle your animals, please do it in a controlled fashion at your own table.

If your animals fail Health Check for any reason, they must immediately be removed from the Exhibition area and may not return.

Please respect the decisions of the Health Check Officials. Their decisions are meant to protect the health and well-being of many animals, and the safety and fun of all Exhibitors. Their decisions are not personal and have no reflection on anything except the health of the animals.

Depending on the nature of the Health Check failure, the Health Check Officials reserve the right to ask that all animals caged with the failed animal, or all of an Exhibitor's animals, are removed along with it.
