Welcome to the RFL

The RFL is a small club of made up of enthusiastic fanciers of the domestic fancy rat. We are breeders, showers, and pet owners dedicated to furthering the knowledge of these wonderful animals, learning more, and showing safely and ethically in the Great Lakes area.

We have a showing affiliation with the North Illinois Rat Organization (NIRO) and share titles and points with them, following the same show standards. Our titles are registered with the North American Rat Registery (NARR) and NARR registration is required for all showing rats.

Joining is easy!

If you are interested in fun, fellowship, and educational events such as shows and conferences, the Rat Fanciers of the Lakes is for you!

Simply fill out our Membership Application to the right!

Read through and sign our Code of Ethics - there's one for breeders and one for pet owners, to fit all the differing needs of the fancy. Keep in mind that every breeder in the RFL agrees to follow those rules when they join with the RFL.

Sign and mail those documents, along with your adoption fee, and your membership will be voted on at the next Board of Directors meeting after it is recieved. In the meantime, please feel free to join us on our forums and get to know us!
